Addiction impacts children and teens differently than it does adults. Teen substance abuse is a means of coping with physical and emotional trauma, social and family issues, and unaddressed mental health problems. Left without the proper tools or outlet for these feelings, addiction and other destructive behaviors form, leading to an inability to function properly at school, work, or in the home. Teen substance abuse becomes a crutch that will only hinder their growth and development into adulthood.
By intervening now, Safe Landing works diligently to correct negative self-image, build confidence and self-esteem, and provide a safe place for repairing the underlying causes of addiction. Through individual, group, and family counseling, we focus on instilling personal responsibility and teaching positive methods for dealing with stress and emotions. By involving the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) in our treatment programs we heal the rifts caused by the disease of addiction and teach support and unity as a family unit.
Safe Landing also fosters a family atmosphere to teach cooperation and consideration for others. By breaking through the idea that one is alone in addiction and recovery, we teach children and teens how to communicate effectively. We also delve into interpersonal relationships, setting and respecting personal boundaries, and conflict resolution. All of our daily groups are gender and age appropriate to develop healthy habits.
Because our team of teen substance abuse recovery professionals also know the journey to sobriety on a personal level, we are able to connect with and understand the ups and downs of recovery and provide guidance and support. Above all, our team is dedicated to helping prevent undue tragedy in the lives of our youth and helping them toward their dreams.

Education is important. That’s why Safe Landing provides treatment options that take school into mind. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is flexible to allow children and teens to remain in school while still receiving the care they need to overcome addiction. Schedules for IOP are 3-5 days for 2-3 hours per day with a strong emphasis on parental involvement every step of the way. This course is ideal for balancing life responsibilities and recovery for children and teens.
In the case of children and teens who require more structure and care, we offer an intensive partial hospitalization program (PHP)- 5 days a week for 5 hours a day. Here the focus is on blending treatment and education into one through virtual schooling, in-class instruction for core subjects, GED, SAT, ACT, and college prep, and career coaching. Your child can overcome substance abuse while working toward graduation and their future!
Our educational programs also include courses on health, medication management, and substance abuse to ensure long-term sobriety. We strive to promote well-rounded growth and character building through life skills training, teaching real tools that are applicable to life.
Addiction recovery doesn’t have to be boring, either. Safe Landing breaks through that stereotype with a variety of fun and exciting amenities available throughout the recovery process. This includes:
